Which vehicle do you drive?
On the Defender the kit fits the 90, 110 and 130.
Fits the Discovery Series I (1989–1998) only. For the Discovery we put the kit together on request: at the end you send us your configuration instead of adding it to the cart.
Fits the Range Rover Classic (1986–1994). Here too we put the kit together on request: at the end you send us your configuration by e-mail.
Engine
Why do we ask about the engine?
The wheel bearing system differs between the engine variants. On the older system the wheel bearing nuts can be reused, but a new lock washer is needed. On the newer system (from the TD5 onwards) a new nut is required instead. We automatically put together the right set for you.
Which angle suits you?
How high does your Defender sit? That determines the right caster correction, and we select it automatically.
Why does it matter?
When you lift the suspension, the axle tilts forward and the caster decreases: the steering becomes nervous and holds a straight line less well. Our widening rings correct the caster at the same time: 2 ° at standard ride height, 4 ° from a 40 mm lift upwards.
Does the steering effort increase with a larger caster angle?
Over-correcting the caster angle increases the self-centering force of the tyres, which gives safer straight-line stability. As a result the steering effort can increase slightly. In our opinion that is not a drawback, quite the opposite: the handling feels safer and more modern.
Which axles do we widen?
The front axle is the heart of the system; the rear axle follows with wheel spacers.
Does the rear axle need track widening too?
Yes. For the front and rear axle to run in the same track, the rear axle needs to be widened as well. Either you already have 30 mm wheel spacers on the rear axle, or you can order them right here together with the kit.
Why “only” wheel spacers at the rear?
The rear beam axle has no steering geometry, so track, camber and caster do not change there. Conventional wheel spacers are therefore the technically clean and most economical solution.
Do you need new track rod ends?
The drag link and track rod are part of the kit; you can add the rod ends.
The lock nuts for fastening the track rod ends to our drag link and track rod are always included.
Without a VIN we cannot issue the expert report — it is documented in the report for individual vehicle approval (§ 19 (2) in conjunction with § 21 StVZO).
