The innovative axle widening kit for your Land Rover

More performance. Less load. Unchanged steering geometry.
The secret is where it sits. Widetrack widens the track between the axle and the swivel ball, not with a plate behind the wheel like conventional wheel spacers.

More than just
track widening

Our job at Widetrack is to get the best out of your vehicle. With integrated caster correction and the original scrub radius, we offer not just a track widening kit but a complete system with real handling benefits, without trading them for drawbacks elsewhere.

40% less load on swivel and wheel bearings*
3x longer service life of swivel and wheel bearings*
0% additional load on the stub axle*

* 30 mm bolt-on wheel spacers compared with the Widetrack axle widening kit (scrub radius 100 mm instead of 70 mm) · calculated with the standardised bearing life formula (DIN ISO 281)

How our caster correction works

Caster describes how far the tyre contact patch trails the imaginary steering axis. It is what pulls the wheel back to straight ahead while driving. Your Land Rover leaves the factory with 3° of caster. A suspension lift makes the steering axis steeper and reduces the caster, so straight-line stability and the self-centering of the steering deteriorate and the vehicle feels nervous.

Our axle widening kit corrects this by rotating the swivel housing by up to 4° relative to the axle. That restores the original caster angle, or deliberately over-corrects it for even better straight-line stability than in standard trim.

Which caster correction
is right for you?

For standard ride height up to +30 mm, trials & competition

Caster correction

Our recommendation at original ride height, and for trials and competition vehicles that do not need pronounced straight-line stability.

For lifted suspension

Caster correction

Our recommendation for all other vehicles, especially with a 40–60 mm lift: brings the caster back into the optimum range for solid straight-line stability and calm handling.

Small scrub radius

Conventional wheel spacers
Front axle seen from the front: increased scrub radius caused by bolt-on wheel spacers (marked in red)

Conventional wheel spacers increase the scrub radius and with it the lever arm through which the wheel forces act on the steering. The result is more nervous handling, poorer tracking, and higher loads and wear on the steering and bearings.

Widetrack
Front axle seen from the front with the Widetrack axle widening kit: the scrub radius stays original

Our system widens the track without changing the original steering geometry or the scrub radius. Precise steering and straight-line stability are preserved, while the load on the steering and bearings is significantly lower than with conventional wheel spacers.

The difference

Unlike wheel spacers, the axle widening kit does not alter the steering kinematics. The scrub radius stays original, so despite the wider track, the reduced tendency to tip and the better looks, nothing changes in the steering behaviour or in the forces acting on the suspension. Wheel spacers, on the other hand, increase the scrub radius at the front axle, which leads to poorer tracking and considerably higher loads on the wheel bearings, swivel bearings and steering box, and can cause these components to fail prematurely.

More benefits at a glance

Less kickback through the steering

Impacts on the wheel have far less effect on the steering, so less of the terrain reaches the steering wheel.

Less load on the wheel bearings

No additional leverage from bolt-on wheel spacers: the wheel bearings work exactly as they were designed to.

Protected swivel pin bearings

The swivel pin bearings also carry far less load than with wheel spacers. No compromise on the service life of your axle.

Scrub radius as from the factory

The widening sits inboard at the axle, so the scrub radius is preserved exactly.

Selectable caster correction

Noticeably safer and better handling with improved straight-line stability.

Low-wear drivetrain

The 30 mm longer halfshafts in high-strength 34CrNiMo6 steel allow more torsional give and absorb more shocks and vibration from the drivetrain. That protects the gearbox, differential and drive flanges.

  • FEM

    Fully calculated

Strength and every bolted joint are verified by calculation, and are considerably stronger than a Land Rover HD axle.

  • F↑

    Passed the destructive load test

The assembly of axle widening kit and swivel ball was tested to failure: the swivel ball and the original bolts give way first.

  • §21

    Expert report for individual approval

Every kit ships with an expert report for individual vehicle approval under § 19 (2) in conjunction with § 21 StVZO (German road traffic licensing regulations). Take it straight to your inspection body and have the widening entered in your vehicle documents.

  • S/N

    Serial number & VIN

Every ring is individually numbered and engraved. Your vehicle identification number is documented in the report.
